    Synopsis

Corticotomy surgery has been performed since 1897, but has gained limited use in the modern era of orthognathic surgery. Kole, Epker and others have utilized the technique as "bone block" surgery, but current technology incorporating the RAP phenomenon and bone grafting has shown to be extremely effective.

    Learning Objectives
    1. Describe a successful technique with long-term clinical results.
    2. Identify the clinical cases (dentofacial deformities) in which AOO is most effective.
    3. Describe a successful technique resulting in improved treatment in select case situations.
