Synopsis
An update and review of the principles of management, anatomy, clinical presentation and complications of oral and maxillofacial infections. Best practices for surgical therapy are identified, including clinical evaluation, imaging, surgical approaches, drains and postoperative followup. Presenting factors that predict complications, length of hospital stay, and abscess formation are identified.

- Identify the anatomic deep fascial spaces involved when given clinical presentation.
- Identify the anatomic spaces that threaten the airway and airway management techiques that are useful in such infections.
- Name and discuss the eight principles of managing head and neck infections.
