Synopsis

The lecture will demonstrate how to evaluate the upper airway space in patients with obstructive sleep apnea, present normal upper airway volume data from ages 6 to 65 and discuss how the upper airway changes with age and after sleep apnea surgery. Presenter will demonstrate how to map out and outline the upper airway space with use of the 3dMD Vultus Airway Software (Atlanta, GA) and DICOM file from a head and neck CAT Scan. The upper airway volume will be correlated with clinical exam and polysomnogram values for effective and predictable treatment.

Learning Objectives
  1. Evaluate the upper airway space with the aid of computer software in patients with sleep apnea.
  2. Relate the anatomic basis and normal upper airway volume data.
