Synopsis
Traditionally, surgeons place multiple implants for fully edentulous patients and dentists fabricate the overdenture according to the existing implants. Attachment assemblies perform optimally and last longer if implants are placed within specific distance and locations. Surgeons should know about overdenture attachments so they may place the implants accordingly.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the relationship between the numbers of implants and each attachment assembly design.
- Analyze different attachment assembly designs based on the height of available bone and level of desirable resiliency and surgical aspects of the treatment around these criteria.
- Describe different attachment assembly designs and highlight the advantages and disadvantages of each design.
