Today’s economic climate creates an entirely new scenario for the oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Being able to development and maintain an actively growing practice requires new, innovative concepts and the discipline to implement them on a continuous basis. Practice growth in today’s challenging environment requires insight as well as innovation. Profitability, value and the impact of technology will be evaluated for the clinician. Costing of products, setting a fee and the issues of marketing will be presented. Specific new challenges, such as the proliferation of implant Super Centers, will be discussed. For the first time in more than 25 years, dental implants are being marketed directly to the public in an aggressive campaign on a regional and national level.
