The combination of advanced and readily available CBCT imaging and powerful software capable of providing cephalometric analysis and surgical simulation is a rapidly expanding field with a large application potential in orthognathic surgery. Typical applications include the making of three-dimensional virtual models for treatment planning and the production of custom-designed intermediate and final splints. This course will introduce the use of computer-assisted treatment planning in orthognathic surgery eliminating the need for “conventional” model surgery using an articulator and mounted casts. The participants will be given a one-day license of the software and taught the workflow of CASS in orthognathic surgery using their own laptops.
- Describe the process of CBCT data acquisition and manipulation.
- Perform accurate virtual model surgery using CAS software.
- Achieve better and more effective surgeon-patient communication.
