Synopsis

This program will focus on measuring success in dental education and leading to successful resident selection into OMS residency programs. The program will highlight the success of the American Dental Education Association personal potential index (PPI) among the evaluation resources provided to advanced dental education programs, the success of the National Board of Medical Examiners CBSE for interested OMS applicants and the implementation of Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education core competencies in OMS resident education and training.

Learning Objectives
  1. Describe the benefits of ADEA’s PPI, its interpretation and its correlation to success in matching for OMS residency training.
  2. Describe the role of the six core competencies in assessing oral and maxillofacial surgery residents’ educational progress and competency.
  3. Apply resident evaluation outcomes to program assessment and improvement.
